NCRS Winter Meet
January 21-25, 2015
at Sun 'n Fun; Lakeland Linder Airport, Lakeland FL
This was our 16th time at this great event in 17 years, and the 4th location. Even now that I'm in Alabama, not Maine, it's a welcome break from winter. Ed Augustine, Tyler Townsley and their team always make for a smooth running event.
Fundraising was up this year as well, so we were able to send a check for $1020.00
to the American Cancer Society's office in Lakeland. Thanks Ed, and NCRS-FL!

Sorry, no photos. High winds kept me busy! By 4:00 the forecast of heavy rain overnight and into the next morning with even higher winds finally prompted me to pack up the display. As it turned out, it was the right decision.
Saturday, January 24
Having packed up the evening before allowed me to spend the day walking around, seeing the cars and visiting with the dozens of vendors. Something I rarely get to do.
A great opportunity to watch judging of a 53 from above and below.
Tyler Townsley's early (1988) prototype ZR-1! One that didn't get crushed.
The C.E.R.V. II from 1964. (That's "Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle") One of Zora Arkus-Duntov's most outrageous concepts!
A couple shots from the Classic Corvettes of Orlando show on the grounds that day.
Saturday evening Awards Banquet
Before dinner started, Ruth Primeau once again helped sell 50/50 tickets. She is (dare I say it) Ruthless! Thank you Ruth!
After dinner, Joel Stieglitz announces the judging results, and NCRS National Judging Chairman David Brigham presents the awards.
Views around the room
Glenda & Dave McLellan, Event Chairman Ed Augustine.
Glenda & Dave pose. (They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few days later!)
We then drew the winning ticket for our 50/50 to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The Winner of half the $820 pot! Without hesitation, John Ammons gave back his $410 share so that the entire $820 went to ACS!
Again, THANK YOU Ruth!

A quick drive down to Ft. Myers for an overnight visit with Sandy's sister Peg and her husband Bill. Sandy's parents were also spending the winter there so I got to visit with them too.
Monday, January 26
The rain had finally stopped, so, time to walk the dogs as I left.
A few miles North, the Corvettes Conquer Cancer 2006 C6 reached this milestone:
Home again...
...to a VERY happy cat!
