January 22-26, 2014
Old Town; Kissimmee FL

This was my 15th time here, always one of my favorite events - and not just because it is a wonderful escape from the COLD! Ed Augustine and the NCRS-FL Chapter people make it a wonderful time. They always provide a great spot for my setup, and the Comfort Suites has to be the best in their system. I could see my space from my room!

Fundraising results were disappointing, but we were still able to leave $475 with Ed, to be bundled with a match from NCRS and sent to the local American Cancer Society office.

Wednesday, Jan 22

Leaving Decatur AL, oh-dark-33

Arrival: Old Town, Kissimmee
In time for happy hour @ Barracuda Bart's!

Thursday, Jan 23

Our setup until Saturday afternoon.

Marsha Norman signs the hood for her $25 donation
to the American Cancer Society.

Friday, Jan 24

An unusual find in the For Sale area: this little Eldorado,
with the usual Northstar engine under the hood...

...and another one in the trunk!!!

A cute Willys convertible and a classic Superstock Dodge.

Sights in the judging area.

Back at the booth, long time benefactor Scott Sinclair signs the hood INSIDE the oval for his $100 donation to ACS.

Callaway was set up across from me. I thought I put a lot of miles on the Vette. Check this out: 188k supercharged miles, on a 2010! Tough duty in a company car, huh. Chris Chesnoe is working on a way to document turning 200k miles... at 200mph!!!                   Maybe Bonneville?

Saturday, Jan 25

Another beautiful day!

Panorama from inside the tent.

After packing up, it was time for the awards banquet and selling 50/50 tickets.

The 50/50 pot came to an even $700, so the winner, Roland Roth, got $350. Adding the other $350 to the $125 from the hood signatures, I gave the $475 to Ed Augustine to write a check to the American Cancer Society, thereby qualifying for a match from NCRS.

Thank you Ed and NCRS-FL!

Sights from the Old Town cruise night after dinner

Another cancer themed Corvette. There was nobody around to question.

Classy supercharged 34 Ford 3-window coupe.

Unusual Duesenburg-styled creation, with right hand drive!

No, not 2 shots of the "General Lee". There were actually 2 of them, one at each end of the lot!

Walking back to the room, past the spot we had occupied for the past 3 days.

Sunday, Jan 26

Drove down to Ft. Myers for the great annual visit with Sandy's sister and her husband, and dinner with her parents.

Monday, Jan 27

The drive back home from Ft. Myers provided a stark contrast in climate.
In Dothan AL it was 60 and raining. At home, 3 1/2 hours later, it was 26!
