This was our second year at this really fun event. Where last year's weather was pretty bad, this year it couldn't have been much better! Many thanks to Sue and Doug Kiry, directors of the event, and Mike Kaminski, the very much hands-on 4th generation owner of the beautiful Chula Vista Resort, for their hospitality!

And a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the above for allowing me to do a 50/50 to benefit the American Cancer Society. Because of that, we were able to sent the ACS office in Madison WI $657.00!

Wednesday, June 6

Departing Decatur AL, 4:52am

Arrival at Chula Vista Resort.

Thursday, June 7

All set up in the big tent, with Doug & Ivan's National Corvette Museum table.

Friday, June 8

That's pretty clever: 5 words with 7 characters!

A common theme here...

Colleen and Dennis Lund asked if I knew Tom & Charlene Delisle. They had become good friends at several Black Hills Classics, but lost contact after both couples sold their Vettes. Did I ever! We were long-time Corvette friends back in Maine, and Tom & Charlene went with us to the BHC in 1998. I sent this pic to T&C.

That evening, I got a reply from Charlene, all excited to renew the connection with the Lunds, but saying that while Colleen looked the same, Dennis looked older. This was Dennis's response, which I sent back to Charlene! Obviously fun people... {;-D

Pulling away.

Saturday, June 9

6:26am - by the dawn's early light... to pack up for the parade downtown for the Corvette show.

About 190 Vettes paraded to this blocked off street in the heart of downtown Wisconsin Dells.
The show coincided with the Taste of the Dells Festival.

Note the bags & laptops hanging from the tent legs: it was REALLY windy
and the tent kept trying to take off. They successfully prevented liftoff.

Barb & Ed Saari from Bloomington Gold took this opportunity to show off their new sponsorship of our cause, and their decal on the car.

This year I wasn't quite the last Vette on the street!

We had been selling 50/50 tickets to benefit the American Cancer Society all 3 days, with a big rush at the banquet. The final pot was a terrific $1314.00, so both the lucky winner and ACS received $657.00! As always for us, we sent the ACS share to the office in Madison WI which serves the Dells.

Sunday, June 10

Departing Chula Vista, 4:57am

Back in Sweet Home Alabama, 4:18pm, with 3 quick stops: 1 breakfast and 2 gas.
